The client already had a telematics system in place. This system included sensors on the vehicles and software that processed information from them. This was only used internally by the dispatcher and lacked driver support.

Some of the issues with the software in place included:
Ineffective Feedback
There was a lack of communication between dispatchers and their drivers. This was particularly a concern in the event there were issues with the route or order.
Manual Operations
Assigning a driver to order and informing them of any changes was manually done risking mismanagement with high volume orders. This ultimately led to additional work time, increased risk of error, and extra expenses, and negatively affected the quality of the company’s service.
Safety Risks
A priority when creating this application was to ensure the possibility of its safe use while drivers are on the road.

We considered the current user interface in place by VOLKSWAGEN and designed our user interface to be suitable for theirs. We used key principles to ensure the interface was predictable, visible, simple, and therefore user-friendly.
MirrorLink Certification
We ensured the application was ready to use for drivers by meeting compliance requirements for MirrorLink. This certification ensured the application was safe to use while operating a vehicle.
